Vote for David! You know you want to, right? And please remember that I'm from Chicago when I say, "Vote Early and Often!" And tell your friends and family - and anyone on your email address list - about the contest.
I thank you for checking this out, and I know David does as well. (Though he'd probably not say vote early and often, because he's NOT from Chicago.)
Peace,
Star
Where is David?
Home from his tour of Germany, David's been letting me work on the PEG Partners site, and providing content for that.
But tonight, he's in Washington, D.C. for - in his words:

The Songwriters Association of Washington DC is holding the awards ceremony for their annual song contest Dec. 3, and wrote to me to tell me that I had received the Silver medal in the Instrumental category for the song Madison's Tune from my latest record, Change. They called it the "perfect piece." Nice to hear that. What was better, though, was hearing that Keep the Change, also from the new record, won the Gold in the Folk category. In this contest there are thirteen categories, and they award three 'Overall' prizes, First, Second and Third, which they don't announce until the awards ceremony, so keep your fingers crossed for me, huh?

Back to Illinos
Photos from the Madison and Fitzgerald gigs will follow soon, I hope.
Yesterday I did not accomplish much, and have a lot of catch up to do!
Thanks to David, I am now a complete Sons of the Never Wrong fan - WOW, did they ROCK! We got a cool backstage 1 song concert (practice) of Golden Slumbers, while we ate Szechuan String Bean. What a cool thing.
I am really disappointed that I wasn't able to get to the stage and buy a CD, after the gig - so I'll just have to order off of their site. I hope they check out this site soon - if you do, Hi! Loved the show, Sons of Never Wrong! Watch for my mail and check!
The audience at FitzGerald's was great (and so was the venue) - they interacted with David a lot, and loved his music. One guy came up to me after the soundcheck and said, "I've never bought a CD because of a soundcheck before... but wow..." It was a great night.

Sorry!!!
In trying to do the update yesterday, I messed up the home page. Well, I couldn't get the home page loaded entirely, which messed up the home page. (Something should go here about doing it right, or not at all.)
Yesterday was great, though a bit long for me. David arrived as I was messing up - and trying to fix - the home page. We went from the hostel to try to find where the gig was going to be, but sidetracked for breakfast.
If you're in Madison, check out the Copper Gable at the Aberdeen Apartment building. Wonderful food and even better people there.
Then we searched for the gig location again, and found Tracy Jane Comer her husband Allen, who helped with set up and tear down and sold cd's, and Randy Green, who played a cool guitar and piano, told awful jokes and did some back up vocals.
Tracy Jane and Randy did a soundcheck, and then David. we got the cd's set up at a table in the back. I sat between Allen and a nice lady from the Madison Folk Society.
There was a poet to start, who did two poems. He was very expressive - and then Tracy Jane started. She has a lovely voice, I loved her songs. She and Randy worked well together. I bought the two CD's she was offering.
There was a slight break, and then David started playing. The audience really interacted with him well. I would guess that there were always between 30 and 40 people seated in the chairs, another half to full dozen seated in other areas, and anywhere from five to twenty people stopping in the back of the small square, to listen.

I sold CD's (lots of them) and David tore down the stuff and talked to guests. I got a couple of photos of David with Tracy Jane and Randy, and then we headed off to Berwyn. We stopped in (Somewhere, Wisconsin?) to pick up some munchies at a health food store.
We got to Fitzgerald's at 6:45, walked in and met the Sons of the Never Wrong. Susie is sure crazy and terrific - and BOY, did they have fun together.
We watched their soundcheck, and then David did a soundcheck. A man waiting for some friends bought a CD after the soundcheck - he was very impressed.
David walked down to a strip mall and picked up (my choice, always:) Szechuan String Bean. We went backstage and ate, while listening to a glorious harmony by the Sons of the Never Wrong on the Beatles classic, Golden Slumbers. Man, oh man... That was coooool! Abbey Road has always been my favorite Beatles Album - and the second side, my favorite Beatles album side. It's kind of a mini opera in itself.
The gig started at about 9:30. The crowd loved David, and he was completely "on," talking with them, and sometimes forgetting he was supposed to be singing. The set list was similar to the one in Madison.
More later.

In Madison, Wisconsin for Folk Fest
It was a long, long strange trip. My neighbor had been going to drive me to the local train station, but she had the opportunity to work overtime - so a friend of hers (for whom I'm creating a Truly Large website) drove about 20 miles north to pick me up and take me to the train station that's about 15 minutes from my house. Or, about a $10 cab fare. It was very nice, and fortunately, she had shopping to do in the area, so I didn't feel terribly guilty.
The train into Chicago was PACKED by the time we hit Western Springs. But, we made it into Union Station pretty well on time - but later than I'd figured. I left immediately for the trip to the Greyhound station - two blocks west, three or four blocks south (under the tollway) and a block west. The walk wasn't bad, except one of my bags (a shoulder bag) is heavy, and it was very (very) humid.
What a LOT of people there were at the Greyhound station. I stood online until I was the second to next to go see the clerk at the ticket booth - holding my ticket in my hand (but my bags needed checking.) Then some guy directed people who had prepaid to customer service... The people at the end of the line got there first - which now made me 8 or 10 in line. My humor was running low.
I was able to buy a sandwich and a bagel and a bunch of munchies THANK GOODNESS. The bus was completely full, including the baby two rows behind me, who screamed, wailed and cried til past the Wisconsin line. We stopped in Milwaukee, then went on to Madison. We arrived in Madison at right around 7 pm - about 15 minutes late. And then was the walk to the hostel.
A bit more than twice the length between the train and bus stations in Chicago, this stroll added about 3 blocks of steep (up)hill walk, and it was even more humid than in Chicago. After about 4 blocks, I found a very nice little cafe, where I ordered a sandwich, side salad, yogurt and beverages (did YOU know that Stewart's makes a Key Lime Soda? Yum.) The bag that the lady gave me fell apart about half way to the hostel. In the middle of the road. That was an experience.
I got to the hostel completely soaked through, checked in, and basically crashed in my room. I watched "Good Night and Good Luck" and a bit of the "One Night in North Carolina" DVD's while I ate my dinner. Then I slept.
Now I'm waiting for David to show up - per the computer, it's 10:15, so he'll be another hour or hour and 15 minutes. Since check out time is 10, I'm sitting in the common room, my laptop plugged into the surge protector on the Hostel's guest computer.
The plan for today...
Meet David here
Go with David to his gigs (I'm hoping there's time to see the Madison "Cows on Parade" - for some reason, I just wasn't that into it last night
Set up the pc to record David's gig and run through a soundcheck.
Record gig - pc NOT plugged in (to avoid the dreaded hum)
Plug in pc somewhere to recharge. :)
Convert gig from .wav to .mp3 (though I think that can really wait...
Help David sell cd's
Ride with David to Berwyn
Dinner?
Go to Fitzgerald's for the second gig of the day
Record Gig Two
Ride with David to my Dad's - David's heading on to where he'll crash
That's it for now. I'm really looking forward to seeing David - first time in nearly five years. I'm off to surf the internet.
Peace,
Star

Whoops. I scooped the tour listing. Well, check it out tomorrow.
Just updated on the site - and soon to come:
The Video: Buddy Schmcghee page is NOW COMPLETE!!!
Don't tell David I just stole it straight from the Official Site's Vault, ok?
Soon to be changed - A new look to the Audio Library...
The songs will be broken up by CD - and offered at about 3 songs per page. I think this will make the entire thing more user friendly.
I haven't been noting updates here, but I will try to keep people aware of the larger updates that aren't purely housekeeping. (Like what the HECK is going to be done with that mega-picture gallery?)
